In partnership with![]() ![]() Dear Residents, It’s going to be wet and windy for the rest of the week! The City of Cape Town is on high alert after three weather warnings were issued for this week as an intense cold front is expected to make landfall on Wednesday, June 25, until Friday, June 27. The specific warnings issued by the weather service include: Yellow Level 4 Warning for damaging waves from Wednesday evening Yellow Level 2 Warning for damaging winds on Wednesday Yellow level 2 Warning for disruptive rainfall on Wednesday until Thursday morning. In the event of any life-threatening emergency, please call the City’s Public Emergency Communication Centre on 021 480 7700. As winter sets in, crime patterns tend to shift with a slight increase in petty crimes, such as theft out of motor vehicles and theft general, due to quieter streets. The bitterly cold and wet weather doesn’t deter criminals. Crimes such as cell-phone theft continue unabated, especially cell-phone snatching which takes place when people are distracted, waiting for an Uber with their phone in hand. Drive-by thieves grab the device and are gone in seconds. Stay alert when walking and also try to avoid being on your phone. Avoid leaving bags, laptops, or any personal items visible inside your vehicle. Either take them with you or lock them securely in the boot. Please check your vehicle is locked before you walk away from it, as remote jamming is rife! Reminders! If you are the unfortunate victim of a crime or attempted crime, no matter how small, please take note of as much detail as possible and open a case at SAPS, as soon as you can. We need cases opened, so as to allocate appropriate resources. If there are no cases reported at SAPS, resources are moved to other areas. Take note of the vehicle registration, colour, make, model, number of occupants, gender of occupants, location and what direction they are travelling in. Give a comprehensive description of the individual/s (E.g. W/male wearing red hoodie with a green bag and white takkies.) And please WhatsApp me the case number on 081 412 6109. Numbers to keep on hand if you need help urgently. For all Emergencies including Law Enforcement please call: From a cell phone: 021 480 7700 From a landline: 107 They will redirect your call to the relevant sectors to get you help ASAP!
