A Reminder…It’s our AGM!!

This year we will not have outside speakers…
Our 3 Civic organisations will be chatting about their roles in the Village. They will be speaking for 5 minutes each…

The rest of the evening will be for conversations, getting to know each other, asking questions and finding out how you can get involved if you wish to do so.

If you would like to join the HVCID Committee please let me know!

     Opportunistic crime on the rise!

We have received numerous reports of wall jumpers and have seen a spike in opportunistic crime.

The best defense against burglars, opportunistic thieves or armed robbers is to make your property as unattractive to criminals as possible by implementing extra precautions to keep your belongings safe, inside and outside the home.
As you head into the weekend, we remind residents to be vigilant and keep the following tips in mind:  Ensure that perimeter doors are fitted with adequate locks. Fit suitable “spacers”, locks or bolts to all sliding doors to prevent them from being lifted off their tracks (the most common method used by burglars on sliding doors and windows) Ensure all windows are fitted with adequate locks or burglar bars that cover all glass Ensure that all duplicate keys are locked away if not in use Do not leave in doors or make unnecessary copies Keep the garage and tool shed locked when not in use Would–be intruders should not have access to any item that can be used as a weapon or burglary tool Install outside lights that can be remotely controlled from inside the house
Consider installing lighting outside which is activated by a motion detector Reduce all heavy foliage near your perimeter wall and gate to reduce the possibility of those spots being used as hiding places Make sure your domestic worker and gardener have a panic button. Please ensure that your alarms are in working order and are set When pulling into your driveway, always be vigilant. Don’t be distracted by being on the phone or listening to music Test your home security solutions, including alarm system, battery back-up, outdoor beams, electric fencing, CCTV security cameras and fire alarm systems. This is a simple call to the company in charge of your 24/7 security monitoring. If they pick up any problems these can be scheduled for repair well in advance of the festive season, which is the busiest time of the year for service technicians.    Please remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately to us on 086 1212 301 (Emergencies)
