HVCID Newsletter – March 2024

In partnership with

Dear Residents of Harfield Village,

We hope to see you at Hampstead Park on Saturday.
Tina and her team are looking for helpers! Please contact Tina on 082 771 9644.

Please take a minute to read some important reminders and notices!

A reminder:  If you are the unfortunate victim of a crime or attempted crime, no matter how small, please take note of as much detail as possible and open a case at SAPS, as soon as you can. The quicker you go to SAPS, the easier it is to hopefully apprehend and arrest the suspect/s.
Take note of the vehicle registration, colour, make, model, number of occupants, gender of occupants, location and what direction they are travelling in.
Give a comprehensive description of the individual/s (E.g. W/male wearing red hoodie with a green bag and white takkies.)
And please WhatsApp me the case number on 081 412 6109.

Report, Report, Report any areas of concern to the City And if the issue persists, please keep logging your complaint as areas are given priority by the number of complaints received. So the more you log, the more chance there is that something will be done!  If they do not respond, please send me an email, with your reference numbers to follow up

Fidelity ADT
If you are planning on going away for the long Easter weekend please make sure your car and car tyres have been checked and your vehicle is ready for the journey!
Any driver operating a vehicle on South African roads may want to  give thought to the installation of a vehicle tracking system. It is a sad reality that many vehicles get hijacked every day. The Q3 crime stats released by the SAPS recently showed that around 66 cars are hijacked daily – an increase of 6.5% on the same period in 2022. The provinces of Gauteng, the Western Cape, and the North West saw noticeable increases in hijackings.

Vehicle telematics systems and car trackers such as Fidelity Secure Drive, (one of the products offered by the Fidelity Services Group) offer real-time tracking of a vehicle’s movements. If anyone has gained unauthorised access to your vehicle, it is a valuable resource that can help locating the car once it has been stolen or hijacked. It could also help parents monitor the driving habits of their children to ensure good driving behaviour. The added benefit is that your family members who stay behind at home could also track your movement to give them the ease of knowing where you are and whether you reached your destination.
