In partnership with ![]() Where did January go? As January comes to an end, we want to address current safety concerns and the role we can all play as a community.Crime has increased in and around our area. This is concerning, and it calls for awareness and collective action rather than fear. One practical way we can do this together, is through our HVCID Crowdfunding Camera Project, which will create an added layer of security for all residents. Cameras don’t replace community — they support it. They help with deterrence, visibility, and a quicker response time when incidents occur. They also help with footage and making sure justice gets served. Call to action: Please participate by:Making a once-off contribution of R465 (or more, if you can) toward our camera installations Signing up for a R50 monthly debit order. This is for monitoring and maintenance — about the cost of one coffee a month! This project only works if we do it together. Not everyone can give the same amount, but everyone can play a part. Safety grows when communities participate. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far. Our first camera site will be going up in February. ![]() Bank details: Harfield Village Community Improvement District Standard Bank – Claremont Savings account: 10261932746 Or, if you prefer to pay via SnapScan, you can use the QR code on the right, or this link: https://pos.snapscan.io/qr/azPNJ0rN If you own a business and would like to sponsor a site, please contact me: Jen – 081 412 6109 / admin@hvcid.co.za ![]() A message from Darren Bond, Chair of Har-Lyn Neighbourhood watch: Camera footage is an important tool in crime prevention, and for Harlyn NHW this is no different. Harlyn have access to a number of cameras in our patrol area, including Harfield Village, which are set to send alerts at certain times of the day, when the camera detects movement. These cameras, and alerts, have enabled us to remove people acting suspiciously in our neighbourhood, likely preventing opportunistic crime, as well as to identify people that have committed acts, such as breaking into vehicles, resulting in arrests. The more cameras we have available, the greater our reach and the more information we can gather to prevent crime in our area. For this reason, we wholeheartedly support the HVCID initiative to get more cameras installed. If you are able, please do support them! It takes a Village… Please have a look at the HVCID website for more information about our role in the Community: https://www.hvcid.co.za For the other civic role players please see the links below for more information: Harfield Village Association (HVA) – https://harfieldvillage.org.za/ Friends of Harfield Parks (FoHP) – FOHP Facebook page Har-Lyn Neighbourhood Watch – https://www.harlynwatch.org.za/ ![]() Pictured here is another of our great Fidelity ADT Armed Response Officers, Richmond Joyini .
