HVCID Camera Project

In partnership with

Dear Residents,

Since I started at the HVCID my work has been to help Combat Crime and to help residents with any issues they have around security and safety.  I believe to do that you must build Community by working together with all the role players in our Community.

There are so many arms of what we do in service to others, with a lot of Volunteers giving of their time to better the lives of others.

As 1 person we cannot do it all, but together we can accomplish a lot!

I want to personally Thank everyone that I work with daily for all their hard work, thought, care and love that they share with us, in the hope that we can make a difference to the Crime that surrounds us.

Being Pro Active is the way to go.  The HVCID Cameras that we already have are alerting our 2 FADT vehicles, Har-Lyn Neighbourhood Watch and other Private Security companies to activities in the Village at night.  Without these cameras, alerts and responses we would be experiencing a lot more crime in our homes and businesses.

Residents have approached me to quote for cameras in their streets.  This means that we then need the residents in those streets to contribute.  The plan falls short when the costs are found to be too high because not everyone wants to or can afford to contribute…So the street cameras often don’t materialise.

So, I had a thought!  Let’s create another layer of security to our Village.
Why not secure ALL the entry and exit points of Harfield Village?  Too often a crime is committed in the Village, but we cannot find footage of the person/vehicle after that, as they have left via a street with no cameras.
Now we would have the potential to see who comes in and who goes out of the Village.
This is also a chance for us to do something positive for our Suburb.  We can all help make it safer.  BUT this only works if it is affordable and to do that, we need Residents and Businesses to see the benefit of our Camera Project and to join us in this mission.

Why are we doing this?

🚨 Crime Deterrence – Visible cameras discourage criminal activity.

🚔 Faster Emergency Response – Our two FADT patrol vehicles will receive real-time alerts from the monitored system.

🔍 Evidence Collection for Investigations – High-quality footage helps in securing convictions and improving community safety.

💡 How We’ll Achieve It:

Camera Crowdfunding…Businesses to sponsor a camera site would be wonderful!Residents to donate a once off amount.  For example…We estimate the whole project to cost R 255 000 (rounded up) as a maximum, for the 12 locations. FADT will sponsor 1 site, the 10th location. Working on 550 households contributing once off towards the total cost of R255 000 = R465 once off per household. If we could get businesses to sponsor 6 sites and residents 5 sites, we would only need 250 residents to pay R460 once off.Monthly Off-Site CCTV monitoring via Deep Alert platform R250.00 including VAT per camera (preferential rates charged) per month x 23 cameras = R 5750.  If 200 people contribute each month, then it is only R50 each. R 29 monitoring, R 21 to the maintenance fund going forward. It is just a coffee every month! This includes armed response to alerts and suspicious behaviour. viewed on the camerasThe more residents who contribute, the lower the amount for everyone!

If your business would like to sponsor a camera point, please contact me.

❤ Let’s do this, Harfield!
Together, we can make our Village safer for all.
